Three years ago in my previous job, my leadership team and I were driving on a road between Madrid and Formigal in Spain – spending a couple of days skiiing together. Part work, part fun. We’ve known each other for so long, we were not just colleagues but friends.

The most ugly, banged-up BMW 3 series car I have ever seen overtook us on the highway. And I mean really … rust painted over “self-made” style.

I’ve never seen anything as banged up as this car. With big, yellow letters painted on “Be a fucking Legend”.

It’s hard to put in words – every one was somewhat laughing, somewhat awed and somewhat inspired. The most ugly of cars, a bold & inspiring statement, and someone obviously very proud of this – that somehow struck a cord with us.

It turned into a team motto, it inspired us to be bold, to challenge us and even clearer than before to aim to be great.

For me … it doesn’t matter who you are, or what you do. If it’s in your job, in your leisure time, in your family. You have got this one life. Make it count, aim to be the best version of you that you can be – Be a f*cking Legend!
