How to remain authenticated with SAML SSO when accessing a Jira admin page?

Updated: Aug 6

Question

How to remain authenticated with SAML SSO when accessing a Jira admin page?

What is the problem?

The reason you remain unauthenticated is that the Atlassian component (WebSudo) does not use the SAML Single Sign-On app for authentication.

What are the options?

You essentially have two options:

  1. Login/ Create an administrator account with a Jira/ Confluence password and use this to access the administration sections in order to login locally that way, without SSO: Jira: https://<jira-baseurl>/login.jsp?nosso Confluence: https://<confluence-baseurl>/login.action?nosso Bitbucket: https://<bitbucket-baseurl>/login?nosso Bamboo Bamboo 5: https://<bamboo-baseurl>/userlogin!default.action?nosso Bamboo 6 and later: https://<bamboo-baseurl>/userlogin!doDefault.action?nosso Fisheye-Crucible: https://<fisheye-baseurl>/login?nosso

  2. Disable WebSudo permanently:

  3. Jira: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver074/configuring-secure-administrator-sessions-881684205.html

  4. Confluence: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/configuring-secure-administrator-sessions-218269595.html
