Atlassian Team '24 Complete Guide
Where and When?
After the success of the past Atlassian Summit, Atlassian is set to host Team 24, and re:solution is happy to be a Signature Sponsor of the event!
Atlassian Team is the premier teamwork event of the year. Designed to explore the intersections of teamwork, humanity, and technology, it aims to power teams by connecting tools and data, showcasing Atlassian’s flexible solutions that keep development teams in the flow, unlock high-velocity IT, and modernize work at companies.
As sponsors, we want to give you a closer look at the event and tips on everything you need to know about what happened at Atlassian Team 24 so you can be ready for the next steps in your Atlassian journey.
Like Team 23, Atlassian’s flagship conference returned as a hybrid event focused on the future of work and the collaboration platforms that make it possible to unleash every team’s potential.
The convention was held for the last time at the Venetian Convention and Expo Center in Las Vegas between April 30 and May 2, 2024, and it is a must-attend for Atlassian users, partners, admins, and developers.
Did Team 24 meet expectations?
Atlassian Team 24 is more than just a conference; it’s a convergence of minds, ideas, and technologies designed to empower teams across the globe. Attendees can expect to see the latest product advancements, network with industry professionals, and learn new techniques to unleash their team’s full potential through innovative digital and in-person experiences.
This year’s agenda was heavily loaded with AI sessions. The keynote speakers included Atlassian co-CEOs, the president, and other company members. Also, there were be a lot of use cases and user stories from several companies, such as Lufthansa, Reddit, Wells Fargo, and Netflix, just to mention a few of them.
The announcements
- Rovo, the new AI tool
- Atlassian University courses will be free for all
- Instant Service Desks
- Jira Software and Jira Work Management become Jira
- Loom joins the family (for real)
Rovo: Atlassian Universal Search
Until now, searching for information in Jira gives results only within Jira; and the same happens with Confluence.
Here is where Rovo’s value proposition starts: Rovo will be trained on the company’s context like no other AI possibly can be, using the new Atlassian Semantic Index. Search results will be offered across the Atlassian stack, and beyond! In fact, results will include documents in connected drives, like Google Drive, Sharepoint, Dropbox, etc.
Beyond search, Rovo will also be the home for Atlassian agents, which will be developed in Forge and either by Atlassian, by in-house teams, or by marketplace vendors.
Rovo agents can offer information and make recommendations, or directly do work for you. Some of the best examples of agents include an agent that cleans the backlog based on the requirements of a feature; or an agent that removes feature flags in Bitbucket.
Atlassian intends to release 20 agents in the Rovo EAP.
Are you interested in developing your own agent? Then submit your expression of interest here!
Atlassian University is Free for All
With over 300,000 companies using the Atlassian stack, specializing in this ecosystem as an admin, or just being a proficient user of Jira and Confluence can be a life-changing career booster.
And that’s now easier than ever with all Atlassian University courses being 100% free.
Instant Service Desks
AI prompts will dominate the way we interact with Atlassian products very soon.
Natural language queries will be the way to start working for most tasks:
- writing an SQL query for a complex BI report using
- setting up automation rules without browsing to find the right triggers and actions
- searching for information, without knowing the title of the Confluence page, Jira issue, or document where it’s hosted.
Instant Service Desks are the last, and possibly the most baffling addition to this list: instead of setting up a Service Desk with a wizard, we will soon be able to just write a sentence describing what we need… and the Service Desk will be created for us with its portal, request types, queues, and everything!
Jira Software and Jira Work Management become Jira
If you’re interested in experiencing the new Jira that will result from merging the UIs of Jira Software and Jira Work Management, just go ahead and install this Chrome Extension.
Just note that the extension is only a way to get a first feeling! You shouldn’t use it as the standard way to operate in your instance.
But the nice part is that teams no longer have to make the decision between business oriented features, like calendars and lists; versus technical-minded features, like a sprint. The new navigation will solve this with a design that reintroduces the infamous sidebar… with a much better usability.
Loom joins the Atlassian family
Loom was acquired by Atlassian in 2023, and the announcement was already made at Team’23. However, the product had not yet been integrated into the Atlassian experience.
It now has. Loom will be part of the premium offering of Jira and Confluence, with the ability to:
- Capture bugs with Loom and submit a ticket in Jira
- Generate and embed walkthroughs in Confluence.
There’s not a lot that you technically couldn’t do already. The difference is in how seamlessly this integration will be, since Loom will essentially live inside of Jira and Confluence.

re:solution
Like in previous years, re:solution sponsored the event, and we can say quite proudly that our team’s presence was noticed! With our spacecraft booth, our orange jackets, our NASA t-shirts, and a lot of fun swag, every attendee at the conference came and talked to us.
We held a total of 3 braindates around different topics, gave over a 100 demos, hosted a Marketplace Theater Talk around agile collaboration… and had dozens and dozens of great conversations with Atlassian customers and partners.
We’re already looking forward to next year’s edition, which will move away from Vegas for the first time since 2018!
